How do Telephones and Mobiles work?

Before talking about how telephones and mobiles work, let me mention an interesting example from our village. A telephone was recently connected to a near market, half an hour away from our village. There used to be a daily gathering of telephone operators. Saturdays used to be especially crowded because on Saturdays you could talk on the phone at half a discount.

The people of the village did not know how to talk on the phone. They did not know how to put the receiver of the telephone between the ear and the mouth. They should have been taught to hold them this way and not that way. Among them, the funniest thing that most of the people did for the first time was that while the relatives were greeting them on the phone, the elders of the village would put the phone on the table and say Hii/Hello by raising their hands. This is not a matter of many years ago, it is a matter of 15-20 years ago.

The invention of the telephone is a great revolutionary invention for people. It has connected the world. After calling from India, you can immediately talk to a person who is on another side of the earth in America and now you can do a 'video chat' by looking at their face.

However, many of us do not know or care about how the telephone works. Telephones and televisions work in the same way, that is, in both of them, sound or images are seen by passing electric waves through the air. The only difference is that on television, both sound and visuals flow over the air, while on the telephone, only sound flows.

When we speak on a telephone or mobile phone, the microphone in it converts the sound waves of our speech into electrical waves. And, another tower of the electric telephone catches it and reaches the phone number of the concerned person and the other person hears the voice.

When the other person listens, the microphone inside the telephone or mobile phone converts the sound coming in the form of electrical waves into sound waves. And the words spoken by the people are heard.
